Arts Festival -- Great Success! We are having a wonderful summer -- the Arts Festival workshop was filled with enthusiastic students! And we had a fantastic turnout for the production “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”, a revue which saluted America’s favorite pastime through theatre, music and dance. All followed by a delightful picnic at Burfoot Park. But it’s not over yet!
Upcoming Performances -- Mark Your Calendars!
The Showcase Workshop performance this summer will be “Honk!” - an Olivier award winning musical. It has wit, charm, plenty of songs and dances for all and a message of tolerance that is perfect for family audiences. Performances will be from Jul 30 - Aug 2, starting at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on Aug 2 at 2:00 p.m. In addition, a potluck will follow the matinee on Saturday from 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
The Intensive Workshop performance will be “The Good Person of Szechwan” - a parable that examines the idea that in an unjust society, the good can only survive by means of evil. Brecht’s dramatic work demands a focused, presentational and highly unique style that challenges workshop participants. Performances will be from Aug 14 – 16 starting at 7:30 pm.
All performances are in the Olympia High School Performing Arts Center. There will also be recitals this summer. Visit www.creativetheatre.org and click on on the "Show Times" link to see Master Class Recital times as well the performance times.
