The Cue Line!

2006 - Summer Edition

Mark your calendars for an
exciting two weeks !!!

The Traveling Show Begins July 27th! Peter Pan flies on August 2nd!!

Spotlight’s production this year includes Shakespeare’s As You Like It and The Time My Dad Thought I Was From Outer Space, both comedies.

Performances begin July 27th with the last show on July 29th.
All shows are at 7:00 at Olympia High School Performing Arts Center.

The following week, casts will be performing free shows around
Olympia.  Note - we need volunteer drivers for this.  Please call CTE at (360) 459-2093 or send an email to creativetheatre@comcast.net.

CTE’s production of the musical version of J.M. Barrie’s classic story of a boy who refuses to grow up begins its run on August 2nd and ends on August 5th.  All shows are at 7:00 at the Olympia High School Performing Arts Center.

Flying by Foy, who has “flown” such stars as Mary Martin, Sandy Duncan, Liberace, and others, is working with the cast and crew to teach them how to use the flying apparatus.

Be part of this celebration as CTE reprises its first production from 1981!

25th Anniversary Gala on August 11th!!

Join us for a celebration that will serve both as a nostalgic look back at the first 25 years of CTE, but also launches the next 25 years!

The evening will include a variety of entertainment including performances by current and former Staff members, Interns, and students, a multi-media presentation of the history of CTE, and testimonials by friends of CTE.

Hors d’oeurves and beverages will be served and there will be a no-host bar.  The evening climaxes with champagne and cake in a salute to the Creative Theatre Experience.

The evening will also feature a live auction with such wonderful treasures as a
Budd Bay dinner cruise and a basketball autographed by the 2006 University of Washington team including Brandon Roy.

Tickets are $35 and can be ordered through the mail and picked up at the door.  See you on Friday, August 11, 2006 at St. Martin’s University!

DVDs of the Workshops on Sale!

“Sparkle Plenty” On Sale!

Videographer Daniel McLellan is compiling footage of each workshop including behind the scenes footage of circle groups, classes, and rehearsals for each of the workshops.

For the Arts Festival and Spotlight workshops a copy of one of the performances is included.
For the Showcase workshop a more in-depth look at the rehearsals is included due to restrictions by the publisher on filming live performances.

Each DVD sells for $15, including sales tax, and may be ordered during any performance or by sending an email to
creativetheatre@comcast.net

Melissa Williams’ loving look back on the first 25 years of CTE, “Sparkle Plenty: 25 Years of Creative Theatre Experience,” is currently on sale at all of the remaining shows for $10, tax included.

If demand exceeds stock on hand, a second printing will be ordered.

This wonderful and wonder-filled book includes material submitted by CTE founders Tracey Foster and Lois Wofford as well as former and current staff members, Interns, students, and parents.

Volunteers Needed!

Spotlight and Showcase Shows – If you would like to volunteer to usher or sell concessions, please sign up at the high school or e-mail us at creativetheatre@comcast.net.  We also need volunteer drivers for the Spotlight Shows.  If you can do this, please call CTE at (360) 459-2093 or send an email.

Office Strike – We will be moving the staff room and classroom materials on Saturday, August 5th at 10:30 a.m.  We will also need volunteers to help clean the rooms as we vacate them.  If you can help, please e-mail us at creativetheatre@comcast.net or just show up at the high school

Set Strike – We need as many volunteers as possible to move the sets, costumes, and production materials back to the storage locker on Sunday, August 6th at 12:30 p.m.  It’s important that we get as many volunteers as possible.  That evening the Staff, Interns, and Board meet to review this season and start planning for next year!

Seeking New Board Members!

E-mail and Website Changes!

If you are interested in joining the CTE Board for 2006 – 2007 please contact CTE at creativetheatre@comcast.net or see a Board member at one of the shows.

New CTE president Rick Peters and the rest of all-volunteer Board perform many administrative tasks each year which helps keeps the tuition cost down.  Tasks include fund raising, playbill and poster design, bookkeeping, registration, legal research, communication, website maintenance, and many other things that just need to get done.  We are especially looking for someone with accounting or bookkeeping skills this next season.

In an effort to serve our CTE family and friends better we will be working to change our website host and e-mail service at the conclusion of the season.

The website address will remain www.creativetheatre.org.  However, we will have more e-mail addresses available so you can write directly to the person you need to contact.

Please watch the website for the new e-mail addresses and information regarding next season’s registration.
