Volunteers
Needed!
Volunteers are essential to the success of our program.
One
way that CTE keeps tuition costs down is selling giant cookies
and brownies, soda, water, candy, flowers, t-shirts and photos
during the shows.
We need your help! When you volunteer to help selling
conces-sions, ticket sales or ushering, you can see the show
that night for free It is fun -- meet other parents, see all the
summer shows and enjoy a rewarding experience.
Sign-up sheets will be posted at the Parent's meeting June 26th
and throughout the workshops. Or call our message phone or
email us with your contact information.

In an effort to offer a quality program at an affordable price,
CTE
looks to outside financial assistance in the form of grants,
show sponsors, silent auction donations, and advertising.
A great deal of the money raised goes to help students from
low-income families participate in
CTE.
Many charities and businesses are still impacted by the
aftermath of 9/11 and non-profits are struggling to fund their
programs. Some local non-profit have had to cease operations.
We have found that we are more likely to get funding if
businesses employ a parent of a CTE student.
Here are some of the ways businesses can help:
Show
Sponsorships
– Sponsor-ships are in increments of $500. Last year CTE was
fortunate to have Scherer Associates, Gastro-enterology
Associates, Old School Pizzeria, and Frost and Company, CPAs as
financial sponsors. In addition, BigToys donated a playhouse
to be auctioned off. |
Silent Auction Donations – Businesses get approached by many organizations for this kind of
donation. The silent auctions over the past two years have
offered a wide variety of goods and services.
Advertising
– A business can purchase a small ad in the playbill for as
little as $50 and up to $250. The ads are in the playbill for
all three workshop productions.
General Operating Supplies –
CTE
can always use office supplies, art supplies, set building
materials, costume materials, and other items. This is a great,
low-cost way for business to support
CTE.
If you think your employer could help, please contact either Greg
Wellsandt or Kim Gubbe through
creativetheatre@comcast.net or leave a message on the
CTE
phone line at
(360)
459-2093. They can either send you materials to
share with your employer or they can contact your employer
directly. If you own a business and want to help, please let
either Kim or Greg know. |
Former
CTE
Student Shoshana Bean is currently starring in the Broadway
musical “Wicked” in the role of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the
West.
The story is “The Wizard of Oz” only told from the witches’ point
of view. The Tony award winning show is based on the best
selling novel by Gregory Maguire and features music by Stephen
Scwartz, the composer of “Pippin” and “Godspell.”
Shoshana started in
CTE
at a young age and was part of the program until she moved to
Portland at age 9. At a young age she began listening to all
kinds of music, especially jazz and blues.
The role of Elphaba is vocally challenging and the reviews have
been wonderful for Shoshana’s performance. The role is regarded
as one of the best female parts in Broadway history.
